The Anti-Stroke campaign is one of the Initiatives of the George Kerry Life Foundation. This programme started on the 8th of June, 2010 with a Seminar that educated over a hundred Nigerians over the age of forty five on preventing strokes by leading a healthy life style, continuously monitoring their health status and managing predisposing disease.
The Anti-stroke Awareness entailed extensive talks on the meaning of stroke, the different causes of stroke, understanding the progress of the diseases that cause stroke with Hypertension and Diabetes in Focus, control and management of causative factors and diseases, the Role of Stress in Stroke, how to lead a healthy life style. A Medical screening session followed the awareness talks to detect those already at high risk of stroke. Hypertensive and diabetic states were detected and those who were found at risk appropriately managed.
