Our Projects

GKLF carries out numerous projects aimed at encouraging healthy living among community members, however we have three major projects, and they include;

VOLUNTEER SAFE is an ethics and accountability training program for volunteers working in the humanitarian sector.  The  targets volunteers willing to receive cutting edge information on ethical behavior,  rights and obligations, staying safe on the field, delivering the best care to program beneficiaries and recognizing and dealing with conflict of interest situations.  This program is a joint initiative of George Kerry Life Foundation and Be In Health Foundation and is sponsored by the Young African Leaders (YALI) Diplomacy grant. Strategic Partners include – Humanity Family Foundation for Peace and Development (HUFFPED), USA consulate in Nigeria, Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria (MWFAAN), Shimmers production, Happenings Media, Kobo productions. For more information and daily updates, please visit the Facebook page dedicated to the project –

CHOICE stands for Changing Her Opportunities, Improving complete existence.  It is a behavioral change communication program initiated by the George Kerry Life Foundation collaboratively with Ms Kesi Howard, outreach coordinator of Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The program is supported by IREX, The US consulate, The Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF) and the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).

CHOICE teaches and motivates women to achieve better health for themselves and their families through health education, health promotion, community health champions training, women support groups, breast cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, preventive health checks, women support networks and advocacy for better doctor-patient relationships and services. CHOICE was launched in May, 2017 in Idi-Araba community of Lagos state – Nigeria. Our BCC program reached over 250 women in this slum community with and trained 11 CHOICE champions to provide additional support to community women in attaining breast and cervical health.  We continue to reach low income communities in Lagos – Nigeria, targeting Badagry, Ibeju-Lekki and Makoko slum communities for upcoming programs in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

GKLF primarily engages in cervical cancer screening for women in low and middle income communities. Part of our programs include early detection of cervical cancer, pre cancer treatment, referrals and provision of education and sensitization on how cervical cancer can be prevented, detected and what to do when diagnosed with cervical cancer.
